Week includes 5 working days and 2 optional days off. Activities each week may vary based on the needs of the community and resident animals. This itinerary is for example purposes only. Opportunities are available according to the needs of the rescue center and the community, vet availability, and funding.
Vet/Animal Activities:
Weekly activities may include:
- Dog walking & training
- Cat socializing
- Feeding & kennel cleaning
- Vaccines & medications
- Chronic pain management
- Rescue / emergency call outs
- Spay drives
- Adoption events
- Community education (appropriate animal care & common injuries/illnesses)
These are examples of activities that have been performed at this center in the past. This is a working rescue/rehabilitation center- some treatments and procedures are more common than others, but vet work and rehab exercises are highly variable. Volunteers are asked to help with cleaning, feeding and socializing animals- this is incredibly and important work!This program does not have a full-time vet on staff, but they work with local vets regularly. Volunteers are encouraged to work with the vet as much as possible, and vet work will take priority over husbandry activities, when available.Typical Weekly Experiences Hours Include:
- Animal Experience: 40-60
- Vet Experience: 0-20
- Clinical Experience: 0-20

Free-Time Activities:
Volunteers can work 7 days a week or take up to 2 days off to explore Panay Island. Local activities include:

Program Accommodation
Volunteers stay in 1 of 2 volunteer houses, each with 2 bedrooms (2 single beds in each), 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and many rescue animals! Bedding (pillows, sheets, and blankets) is provided and laundry facilities are available for an additional fee. Food is not included but the staff are happy to help you find local groceries & eateries. This cost is roughly $20 USD per week, and staff are also available to prepare meals for $4 USD per meal.
This is a 3rd world country with associated issues, such as frequent power cuts and low quality internet connectivity. Purified water is provided in a cooled container in the main house where most volunteers take their breakfast. The culture and atmosphere lend to a relaxed environment without strict schedules, which allows for visitors to explore the local sites and attractions.
